IRISET has celebrated its 64th Annual day.
Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering & Telecommunications, IRISET celebrated its 64th Annual Day on 24th November, 2021. IRISET imparts training on Railway Signalling and Telecommunications systems to newly recruited Officers & Supervisors, in-service personnel and executives of public & private companies. The Institute has imparted training to record 5801 trainees by conducting 114 training courses through online and on-campus modes this year and has the distinction of becoming the first Centralized Training Institute of Indian Railways to reach the historic milestone of logging one lakh training man days in a calendar year.
The annual report presented by Shri S.K. Goel, Director General of the Institute. While delivering the key note address virtually on the occasion, Dr. Krishna M Ella, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Biotech International Limited, appreciated the role of front line workers of Indian Railways in transportation of migrant labors and essential commodities during the pandemic times.He complimented the efforts of IRISET to complete the herculean task of training in difficult times.
Shri Sanjeev Mittal, Member (Infrastructure), Railway Board while addressing virtually urged the institute to train manpower of the zonal Railways to create infrastructure for nation building. He advised the Institute to focus on training on technologies like Kavach (Train Collision Avoidance System), Automatic Signalling, LTE (Long Term Evolution) and CTC (Centralized Traffic Control) aimed at enhancing safety, improving mobility and promoting indigenous technologies.
Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway laid emphasis on imparting training to grass root personnel of signal and telecommunication department on modern technology systems through zonal training schools under the guidance of IRISET. Shri Gajanan Mallya presented the academic excellence awards to 16 trainees on this occasion.
Shri S.P.S. Chauhan, Director General, National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara, Shri Rahul Agarwal, Additional member (Signal) and Smt. Aruna Singh, Additional Member (Telecom), Railway Board also participated in the event through virtual presence. The dignitaries from Railway Board advised IRISET to partner with signaling industry and gear up for imparting training on Railway Signalling to Graduate students and Executives of Industry, to expand the capacity of Indian Railways Network.
The dignitaries have inaugurated the new laboratory facilities on Kavach and Route Relay Interlocking systems for imparting hands-on skills to trainees. Technical magazine e-Gyandeep and technical notes on modern technology systems were also released on this occasion. A colourful cultural programme followed the event.

Shri S.P. Trivedi, Retired General Manager, RCF Kapurthala and General Manager/CORE highlighted the need to acquire technical and managerial competency in the initial period of the career to cherish the sense of achievement while interacting with App. JEs/SSEs (Signal & Telecom) undergoing Phase-II training at the Institute on 27.09.2021. The interaction was held in S.A. Srinivasan Auditorium attended by 105 trainees. Shri P. Venkata Ramana, Addl. Director General also graced the occasion. The trainees enthusiastically participated in the interaction enquiring about the career prospects and their role in managing train operations. The dignitary replied them outlining the ground realities in the working posts prevalent now.
IRISET becomes the first CTI to register One Lakh trainee days in a calendar year
IRISET has been offering on-line and on-campus courses to S&T personnel and Non-Railway Executives on Signal & Telecommunication Systems. The institute has introduced many innovative approaches to complete the training of large number of App. JEs & SSEs recruited by RRBs. This institute has overcome the crisis situation by introducing hybrid learning in an effective manner. The institute has registered 1,00,390 trainee days on 03.09.2020. This is the first time in history of any CTI to achieve this feat in a calendar year. During the function conducted on 03.09.2021, Sri S K Goel, Director General, felicitated the faculty and staff for their outstanding contribution in this historic milestone. The indoor auditorium is named after Shri S.A. Srinivasan, Founder principal of the Institute expressing gratitude for his visionary leadership in establishing this institute.
75th Independence day celebrations
IRISET celebrated 75th Independence day celebrated on 15th of August, 2021, DG / IRISET hoisted the National flag. During the Ceremony Director General has presented the works carried out by IRISET in the past year to the Dignitories, Staff and Trainees of the Institute present on the occation. A Cultural programme was held on this occation. On this occation Railway Week Awards were distributed duly following COVID - 19 Guidelines.

All India Railway Hindi Competitions in Hindi Essay, Noting & Drafting and Elocution were held at IRISET from 28-07-2021 to 30-07-2021. Officers and Staff had participated with great enthusiasm.
